If you have recently bought an infrared sauna, you need to know some tips to improve your sauna bathing sessions. The tips below will help you make the most of your session and maximize that health benefits infrared therapy will bring:

Check what the Sauna Materials are Made From

A sauna is meant to be a sanctuary for wellbeing, so you must avoid anything toxic like paints, chemical glue, cheap plywood, varnishes, and others. The best infrared sauna has natural components including cotton canvas, eco-certified solid cedarwood, stainless steel, and more.

Rinse Off in a Shower

 Before you dive straight in, you must start with a clean slate. Thus, you should rinse off in a shower. Wash your face and remove any lotions, dirt, makeup, or sweat. You must enter the sauna fresh and with unpolluted, chemical-free pores.

Know How Long to Stay

You must stay in the sauna only as long as you feel comfortable. Try to sit it out at least until you break a proper sweat. Usually, this would be around 15 to 20 minutes. But, you can have it for as long as 30-45 minutes to feel fully recharged and restored. As your tolerance increases, build up your time.

Soak It Up

When using an infrared sauna, you must absorb as much healing infrared light and heat as you can. Thus, you need to position yourself so the heaters will reach as much of your body as possible, depending on the kind of infrared sauna you are using. This could mean sitting up straight with the heat hitting your torso’s back or front. As you enjoy your sauna bath, take time out of your busy day and let yourself relax. You can fully adopt the digital detox by trying meditation, practicing mindfulness, or breathing deeply. After your session, always take a cold shower. This is meant to close the pores that have opened during the hot bath session. A cold shower can wash away excess salt and sebum that could otherwise clog your pores.

Hydrate Yourself

You will sweat a lot during your sauna session so ensure you keep your thirst quenched and fluids up. Consume water before you enter the sauna and when you leave. Also, consider incorporating some rehydration salts to your routine to replenish your electrolytes in sweating. Some people add rehydrating mineral drops to water to help in rebalancing your mineral reserves when they drink.
