Most of us have heard of a nose job, the medical term is known as a rhinoplasty. This operation is done for several reasons, the most common being to fix a structural issue or reshape the nose to improve appearance. If you are planning on having a rhinoplasty in Thailand, there are plenty of good quality medical facilities in the capital.
What to Keep in Mind?
If you decide to go for a rhinoplasty, you will need to find a reputable nose surgery clinic (known as คลินิกศัลยกรรมจมูก in Thai). There are lots of hospitals and clinics in Bangkok, some better than others. To find the right surgeon, you will need to do some research and look for recommendations off a credible source.
The first step when you’ve found a clinic is to schedule a consultation. During the consultation, you will have time to ask a range of questions. It is best to prepare questions prior to going, so you don’t forget anything during the meeting.
A good surgeon will provide you with lots of information about the procedure, they’ll go over pre and post operation preparation and what to expect from the surgery.
Rhinoplasty Surgery
When you go for a nose job, it is usually done as an outpatient procedure, there is no need to stay overnight. The doctor will give you a general or local anesthetic during the operation. General anesthesia means you will sleep through the entire operation and wake up when the procedure is done. A local anesthetic won’t put you asleep, but it will numb the nose and you will not feel a thing.
During the Operation
The surgeon will cut a certain area of your nose to gain access to the cartilage. They then reshape the nose by working on the inner bone and cartilage. After they have achieved the look you were after, they will then reseal any incisions using stitches.
Reasons for Getting a Rhinoplasty
There are two main reasons why people go for a rhinoplasty – one is medical and the other is cosmetic. Some people want a more symmetrical look, while others need to fix an injury or birth defect.
Nose surgery can take a few weeks to heal and there are certain things you must avoid during the recovery process. Listen to your doctor and follow their instructions carefully to ensure you get the best possible result. A rhinoplasty can fix birth defects, injuries or misshaped structures that lack symmetry.
