It’s possible for you to fall sick due to constant worrying and stress in your life. The body has a self-defense system that is known as the fight-or-flight response. This response turns on when there is immediate danger and shuts off when the threat passes. However, sometimes your body can be stuck in that stage because of stress which can ultimately lead to health problems.

If you need help handling your stress then you can visit the website of Wellness That Works. Their blog provides information on self-help, personal growth, and self-improvement. Their research has shown different methods that teach you how to let go and move on from things that stress you out or cause you emotional pain. Their steps include repair, release, renew, recreate, and reclaim to help you develop wellness habits and cure your health problems.

Some health-related problems you can fix

Some health-related problems are caused by stress and any kind of emotional baggage that you are carrying. Here are some problems that you can fix by reducing your stress levels.

  • Heart disease: Researchers have predicted that people who are usually stressed-out have a higher risk of high blood pressure and other heart-related issues. Stress increases heart rate and blood flow which causes cholesterol and triglycerides to be released into the bloodstream. Furthermore, stress also indirectly relates to heart problems through smoking and obesity.

  • Asthma: Studies have shown that stress can make a person’s existing asthma worse. A parent’s chronic stress can also cause asthma in their child. This shows the tensed and stressed parents’ children have a higher chance of developing asthma.
  • Obesity: The excess fat and cholesterol in the body adversely affect the body. The fat stored around the belly causes more health risks. Stress can lead to fat being stored in the abdomen which indirectly leads to a higher risk of health problems.
  • Diabetes: Stress can firstly increase the probability of bad behaviors such as overeating and overdrinking which can causes problems like diabetes. Secondly, stress can raise glucose levels in the blood of people suffering from type 2 diabetes.
  • Headaches: Stress is directly correlated to headaches and migraines.
  • Depression and anxiety: Chronic stress is directly linked to higher chances of depression and anxiety. People who have draining jobs can 80% more at risk of depression and anxiety than those who have lower work stress.
  • Gastrointestinal problems: Stress doesn’t cause ulcers but it can make it worse. Tress can cause chronic heartburn and irritable bowel syndrome.
  • Alzheimer’s disease: Stress may worsen Alzheimer’s disease by causing brain lesions to form quicker. The progression of this disease can be slowed by taking little or no stress.
  • Accelerated aging: There is proof that stress can affect the way you age. Stress can accelerate aging approximately 9 to 17 years as there is a particular region of chromosomes that have shown effects of accelerated aging.
  • Premature death: High levels of chronic stress can cause a person’s premature death. Caregivers of old people have a 63% higher rate of death than others their age.

Conclusion

The health problems above prove that emotional and mental stress can harm you physically. So you must reduce your stress levels or you need to respond stress differently to prevent these problems. Seeking professional help can be the right option.
