However, you can lower the risks of DVT by making certain changes in your diet pattern. There are some foods that can cause more and hence if you avoid them and replace with certain other foods then the chances of blood clot will reduce.

- Drink sufficient fluid
If you do not drink sufficient amount of fluid then your blood will thicken and there is always a risk of forming clot in your blood.
A woman must consume 91 ounces of water or any other beverage while men must take 125 ounces as the medical experts.
- Sip enough grape juice/red wine
If you drink sufficient amount of grape juice and red wine on regular basis then it will keep your blood platelets sticking together which will reduce the chance of DVT.
- Flavour your food with garlic
There are many health benefits of garlic including breaking up of harmful platelet clusters in the bloodstream, as per the research. Therefore, one must either take raw garlic or in roasted form or by boiling it for about 3 minutes or less.
- Avoid unhealthy fats
All those foods that can increase the plaque in blood vessels may not only increase the heart but also increase the DVT risk. Therefore, you must stay away totally from unhealthy saturated fats and trans fats.
Avoid eating red meat, sugar and salt, as these foods can increase the chances of DVT.
- Use only virgin olive oil
If you consume olive oil minimum once in a week then you can reduce platelet activity in obese adults whose BMI is more than 30.
- Make leafy greens your routine
Prefer to eat everyday certain leafy greens vegetables or any other food with high vitamin K. You can also add salads in your food.
- Limit animal fats
Last but not the least, all those foods which are bad for your cardiovascular health can also enhance the risk of your blood clots development.
So, you must stay away from all kind of unhealthy foods like unhealthy trans fats, full-fat dairy foods and fatty meats, also all kinds of sugar foods.
